From forest to valuable ingredients
Sustainable resources is the reason for Boreal Bioproducts’ existence. Our mission is to convert plant-based side streams into valuable novel ingredients.
Together with our partners, Boreal Bioproducts’ extremely competent team develops new ingredients for cosmetics, coatings, binders, adhesives, paints and packaging applications. We enable the industrial transition to a bio-based economy.
Earning instead of burning
Boreal Bioproducts was founded in 2018. The background lies in extensive academic research on hot water extraction technologies and biomass fractionation.
We have operated on a pilot scale at our Turku facility since 2021, are preparing to ramp-up an industrial scale operations in 2026 with commercially significant volumes.
We utilize side streams, such as sawdust and bark. They are abundant and available globally, typically incinerated to generate energy.
Turn side stream into a profitable asset
With our ingredients, carbon emissions will be avoided when substituting fossil raw materials. The raw materials are existing side streams and the wood sourced from certified forests.
A highly sustainable production process is water-based extraction and further physical fractionation of the biomass feedstock. It is zero-waste and utilizes closed-loop water circulation and energy recovery.
