CMPC and Boreal Bioproducts agree co-operation

CMPC Ventures and Boreal Bioproducts® have signed an agreement of a co-operation. The objectives for the co-operation are to exploit CMPC’s woody side-streams with Boreal Bioproducts’ PHWE technology platform. Aim is to produce novel carbohydrate and phenolic compounds, and further develop those to sustainable applications, and to substitute fossil ingredients. Boreal Bioproduct’s process is based entirely on using water as the solvent and renewable bioenergy sources, hence with a minimal GHG impact.

I am extremely happy to start the collaboration with CMPC. This is an excellent basis for scaling our technology to new geographies and feedstocks beyond the Nordic boreal regions. These saw and pulp milling side streams are plentiful, with loads of growth possibilities. Further than the feedstocks, we emphasise the joint application and business development of the new biomaterials, which is the general growth hurdle for all biobased innovations.
— Jaakko Pajunen, Managing Director of Boreal Bioproducts

CMPC Ventures is excited collaborate with Boreal Bioproducts, seeing the high potential of sustainable technology that can integrate to the forest industry value chain, and provide more value to existing side-streams.

Despite the geographical distance between CMPC Ventures and Boreal Bioproducts, our shared vision drives us to be pioneers in extracting maximum value from our abundant and sustainable forest resources. We have an enthusiastic anda dedicated team working with Boreal Bioproducts to explore its technology, complementing our capabilities in optimizing biomass utilization, and making the most of the many synergies towards the development of more sustainable products out of our forestsfor the global markets.
— Bernardita Araya Kleinsteuber, CMPC Ventures Manager
